Plan now to attend the Railway Modeller's Meet May 4th, 5th and 6th 2018

Held annually, the meet features various activities for registrants, and grew out of the Trains and Vancouver Train Expo events. Activities will include layout tours, operating sessions, clinics and a meet luncheon.

A Keynote presentation by Kalmbach Publishing author and modeller Bernard Kempinski will be part of the RMMBC offerings in 2018. Bernard will be presenting a clinic on rail/marine modelling as well as a special post-luncheon talk titled "High Tech Approaches Applied to a 19th Century Railroad". In his talk he will cover the application of laser cutters, 3D printing, photo etching, battery power and casting techniques to model an unusual U.S. Civil War era steam prototype. Bernard's presentation promises to be a fascinating and interesting look at what is possible with the state of the art techniques available to all modellers.

The website has all the details about the meet. We'll see you there!
Directions:
The Railway Modellers Meet will be held at the Burnaby Campus of Simon Fraser University.

By Car
If coming up Gaglardi Way, continue straight on Gaglardi Way where you reach the lights and intersection at the top of Burnaby Mountain (you will see the SFU sign). Stay in the left lane and when you get to the roundabout/traffic circle, continue to go straight and stay on University Drive West. Turn right into West Parkade lot. If coming up Burnaby Mountain Parkway, turn left on to Gaglardi Way when you reach the lights and intersection at the top of Burnaby Mountain (you will see the SFU sign). Stay in the left lane and when you get to the roundabout/traffic circle, continue to go straight and stay on University Drive West. Turn right into West Parkade lot.
By Transit
Bus #95 is a B-line straight from downtown. Alternatively, the #145 picks up at Production Way-University Skytrain station. Use the translink app or website to plan your trip. The bus will drop you at SFU's Transportation Centre. The meet is in the West Mall Centre, immediately west of the Transportation Centre (left compared to the direction of the bus), but if it's raining, you can go up the wide stairs in the middle of the Transportation Centre, and stay under cover right into the West Mall Centre.
By Bike
You will want a shower by the time you get here, but Burnaby Mountain is a super destination for bikers. Road Bikers should come straight up Gaglardi. Mountain bikers will find it easiest to take the Trans Canada Trail from Burnaby Mountain Parkway at Ridgeview Dr (in the west) or from the Petro Canada refinery on Barnet Highway (in the east). If coming from the east, be careful to turn right so as not to find your way onto Pipeline. The Trans Canada Trail connects with University Drive Trail, which passes in front of the West Mall Centre.
